Volt On Fire (& Model X lands with seismic waves)
Records galore in Canada's EV market, with 1.096 units registered in June, the four digits level was achieved for the first time here, representing a 73% increase regarding last year, the EV Share is now at a record 0.45%, heading the Canadian EV Market to some 8.500/9.000 units by the end of the year.
A local market darling, the Chevrolet Volt, Canada's four times Best Selling EV, leads the way, improving its own record for the
Spoiler alert for July: The Volt reached 385 units last month, not only a personal record, but also an all-time high for a single model in Canada.
The other model with available numbers for July is the Nissan Leaf, with 152 units, up 62% YoY.
Looking at the rest of the ranking, the main news was the record-breaking landing of the Tesla Model X, with 156 units, the best debut month ever in Canada, allowing the Minivan/SUV/Sports Car to shoot right up to the Eighth Place, becoming instantly the Best Selling SUV on the market, with such a brilliant start, one wonders if the "X" will have arrived on time to reach a podium position.
In the manufacturers ranking, Chevrolet is the Master In Command, thanks to the Volt success, with 30% share, followed by Tesla (22%) and Nissan (14%).

Now that the Model X has landed let's see how it compares in June with its most direct competitors, if the 156 units allowed it to make a small earthquake in the EV ranking, when compared with its ICE competition, its landing was barely noticeable.
In a SUV-loving market such as this, the Model X has a hard job in its hands wheels, if it wants to reach the same level of success as its Model S older brother (Third Place), it has to reach some 400 to 500 units a month, something still unheard of in this market.
