Automotive News Italy June 2016 - SIBEJO-

The Model S is becoming something of a phenomenon within the Italian EV Market

Renault Zoe Shines in Slow Market

The Italian EV market continues stagnant, with June Sales at around 200 sales, down 22% regarding the same period of 2015, with YTD sales back to red, down 2% YoY.

Looking at the models ranking, the big news were the 26 units of the Renault Zoe, its best performance this year and the first time it won a Monthly Best Seller trophy in 2016, allowing it to jump three positions to #9, which is still a discrete position for the Second Best Selling EV last year.

Below in the ranking, the highlights go for two models that have little in common apart from the fact that both are BEV's: The Tesla Model S is experiencing its best year ever in Italy, with 21 units delivered in June, while the veteran Citren C-Zero continues to impress, with 19 sales, allowing it to continue in Fourth, its highest place in the ranking since the #3 won back in 2012...

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, BMW is in the lead, with 32% Share (Down 1%), followed by Nissan (19%, down 2%), while Volkswagen (14%) is stable in the Third position.

Note: I'm going for vacations for a week, but EVS is not stopping, during this Summer Chilling period, there will be three new articles, one reporting sales by Automotive Groups, the Second updating the population of EV's with Fast Charging capabilities, while the Third has the following title: "Is it possible to go 100% Electric?", a practical case based on my own driving patterns.

Automotive News Italy May 2016 (Updated) - SIBEJO-

The 30kWh version has given the Leaf a welcome boost

 Tesla Shines in Slow Market

The Italian EV market continues stagnant, with May Sales (242 sales) up 10% regarding the same period of 2015, with YTD sales now on the positive side, up 2% YoY.

Looking at the models ranking, the Nissan Leaf continues on a high note, delivering 33 units last month, being the YTD Best Seller in the last three months.

The remaining seats of the podium belong to BMW, the 330e and 225xe Active Tourer, are a true success in Italy, with 188 and 163 units respectively, followed in Fourth by the forever young Citren C-Zero, that scored another 20 units last month, elevating this year tally to 95 units, a remarkable performance for a model that bears the 2011 Best Seller Trophy.

Below in the ranking, the highlights go for two models that have little in common apart from the fact that both are BEV's: The Tesla Model S is experiencing its best year ever in Italy, with 82 units, up an astonishing 332%, allowing it a best ever #4 position in the ranking, while the Volkswagen e-Up! registered 16 units last month, its best performance in 14 months, allowing it to reach #11, tied with the Renault Zoe.

Speaking of the French hatch there are two models under performing badly this year, firstly we have the Zoe is down from 219 units to 26(!) Year-on-Year, dropping in the ranking from First (May '15) to the current Eleventh Place, and secondly, there's the BMW i3 also down sharply from #4 twelve months ago to the current #15, with sale diving from 148 in May '15, to the 11 of the present day...If the Bimmer poor performance could be explained by the internal competition (225xe AT), the Renault model doesn't have an apparent explanation...

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, BMW is in the lead, with 33% Share, closely followed by Nissan (21%), while Volkswagen (14%) holds on the Third position.

Automotive News Italy March 2016 - SIBEJO-

The 30kWh version has given the Leaf a welcome boost

 30 kWh Edition

Unlike others, the Italian EV market continues stuck in the slow lane, with sales dropping 19% regarding 2015.

Looking at the models ranking, the Nissan Leaf was the first this year to reach the three digit area in one month, with 126 units last month, with the 30 kWh & 250 kms-range version being a welcome addition to the lineup, nevertheless, the japanese hatch sales were actually down YoY, because in March '15 the Leaf had collected 147 units...

Below in the ranking, the highlights go for two newcomers that arrived with a bang: The Volkswagen Passat GTE was the third Best Selling model in March, with 49 units, but even more impressively, the BMW 330e jumped right to Second Place in March and #4 Ytd, thanks to na impressive 61 units delivered in its debut month, the question now is: ls this a waiting list derived blip or something to continue?

As for the established players, two models shine, the Mercedes B250e registered 22 units, its second best performance in Italy, while Tesla delivered 27 Model S, its best performance yet.

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, BMW is still in the lead, with 29% Share, but it's now closely followed by Nissan (26%), while Volkswagen (15%) has extended its lead over Citroen (10%) while last year leader, Renault (#5, with 8%), has been seeing its models languishing in the middle of the ranking (Zoe is #11 vs #2 last year and the Twizy is #8 vs #4).

Quo Vadis, Renault?

Automotive News Italy February 2016 - SIBEJO-

BMW might have a winner here

Active Tourer Edition

Unlike other markets, the Italian EV market is not experiencing growth, with year to date sales inclusively dropping 13% regarding 2015, with the EV Share at a low 0,11%.

Looking at the models ranking, there is a surprise in the ranking, with the newcomer BMW 225xe Active Tourer scoring an impressive 94 units, the best monthly result for any model in the last 10 months and a record for any plug-in BMW.

The Volkswagen Golf GTE was the third Best Selling model in February, jumping to Fourth and underlining a fundamental change in the market: The rise of PHEV's, in 2016 they count 42% of the EV market, when last year they had 21% and in 2014 only 9%...

As for pure electrics, the Nissan Leaf continues to sell in decent numbers, the veteran C-Zero is experiencing a Second Youth, placed in the Runner-up position, while the sports-sedan Tesla Model S had another two digit month, placing it at a best ever Fifth position.

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, the chronic leader Renault (Fourth, with just 8% share) had a horrible start, leaving the leadership for BMW, with 34% Share, followed by Nissan (16%) and Volkswagen (10%).
