Will the facelifted Model S pursue with the previous success story?

Tesla Model S Back At #1

The hangover is far from over, with sales (899) down 66% YoY.

The EV Share was down 0.03% to 2.36%, far, far from the 9.6% of last year.

Looking at the monthly ranking, the Monthly Best Seller award went to the Tesla Model S, with 188 deliveries, down 32% YoY. Softening demand or production constraints? Mmmm...

The BMW 330e performed a record 148 units, ending the month in Second, with its stablemate 225xe Active Tourer also impressing (83 units, year best), in #4.

In the YTD ranking, there were a number of significant changes, the most important of all being the recovery of the YTD Best Seller Throne by the Tesla Model S, but with only 51 units separating ot from the Volvo XC90 T8, the dispute for #1 is far from over.

In another good month for BMW, the 225xe Active Tourer continues to climb in the ranking, now up one position to #6, at the expenses of the Mercedes C350e, while the i3 had its best month of the year in June, with 45 units, climbing with it one place to #8 and promising more climbs as the longer range versions arrive Dutch shores.

In an atypical year due to fiscal changes, the VW Golf GTE, runner-up last year with more than 8.000 registrations, has dropped once again in the ranking, now to #12, with only 97 units YTD, being inclusively surpassed by its all-electric brethren, the e-Golf, #10 with 104 sales...

Despite sales being on a much lower level than last year, there are two models racing their ICE competitors with success, the Tesla Model S (188 units), was Second in its class, bested only by the BMW 5-Series (226 units), while the BMW i8 (8 sales) has beaten competition like the Audi TT (6 units), or its own BMW 6-Series relative (6 sales), but the Bavarian sports car is still far from the sales level of the Porsche 911, that with 40 units registered last month, is still the Golden Standard in its class.

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, BMW has reached the leadership (22%, up 3%), displacing Volvo (21%) from #1, while Tesla remained in Third, with 19% share.

If we add regular hybrids to Plug-ins, Pure Electrics have recovered ground, with the Tesla Model S winning the Second place, while the Nissan Leaf climbed to Fifth.

Plug-in hybrids are also represented, with the BMW 330e reaching Fourth, while on the regular hybrids front, there are no surprises, with the two usual best sellers from Toyota, the Yaris and Auris, being present in First and Third, respectively.

The most coveted Volvo in the current days

Volvo XC90 PHEV reaches #1

The hangover is far from over, with sales (641 sales) back at 2013 levels, and YoY registrations down 67%.

The EV Share was down 0,05% to 2,39%, far, far from the 9,6% of last year.

Looking at the monthly ranking, the Monthly Best Seller award went to the BMW 330e, which set a new personal best, with 144 units sold.

Its stablemate 225xe Active Tourer performed a Year Best performance, with 80 units, but the headlining news of the month was the Third Place of the e-Golf, with 50 units (New pb), becoming the monthly best selling VW for the first time since...July '14, when the only plug-in VW's were the e-Up and e-Golf.

In the YTD ranking, there were a number of significant changes, the most important of all being the rise to YTD Best Seller Throne of the Volvo XC90 T8 PHEV, displacing the Tesla Model S to Second Place, it will be interesting to see if the sports sedan can return to #1 in June, Ladies and Gentlemen, please take your bets...

The BMW 330e also surpassed a BEV, in this case the Bimmer climbed to Third at the expense of the Nissan Leaf, that with only 18 units, it had its worst month of the year. Are buyers already waiting for the next Gen Leaf?

In an atypical year due to fiscal changes, last year Best Sellers are far from the front positions, with the best positioned being the VW Golf GTE (#9 now vs #2 in '15) and the Volvo V60 Plug-In (#11 vs #3), with the worst being the Audi A3 e-Tron, down 14(!) positions to #18...

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, Volvo stayed in the leadership (23%, down 1%), followed by a strong BMW (19%, up 3%), which displaced Tesla to Third, if only by 23 units.

If we add regular hybrids to Plug-ins, the regular hybrids recovered ground, with Toyota Yaris Hybrid winning the first place, followed in Second Place, by its Auris larger brother.

Two plug-in hybrids follow, with the Fifth position belonging to the new Generation Prius, with 88 units, it looks Dutch drivers by now are more used to the exotic new look of Toyota's Green Car.

Volvo reaches #1

The hangover is still showing itself in April, with sales back at just three digits (882 sales), with YoY registrations are down 43%.

But not all is bad news, as the EV Share has recovered from 2,23% in the previous month, to the current 2.44%, but it is still a long way from the 9.63% of last year.

Looking at the monthly ranking, the Monthly Best Seller award went to the Volvo XC90 PHEV, which made a year best performance of 370 units (Best Selling Luxury SUV in the overall market),  while the #3 BMW 330e has remained above the 100 deliveries, beating once again the Mercedes C350e and VW Passat GTE.

On a broader look, the Tesla Model S (665 units) has maintained the Number One position in its size class, beating the usual best-sellers BMW 5-Series (481), Audi A6 (418).

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, there were major developments in the top positions, with Volvo taking over the leadership (24%), followed by Tesla (22%) and BMW (16%).

If we add regular hybrids to Plug-ins, only the Toyota Yaris Hybrid shows up in the first places, in Second Place, is this a sign that regular hybrids importance here is dwindling?
