Automotive News Switzerland June 2016 (Updated) - SIBEJO-

If the S is shaking the Swiss market, imagine what the X will do...

Tesla Edition

The Swiss EV market registered over 500 units last month, down 23% YoY, with the EV Share stable at 1.76%.

Looking at the models ranking, the leader Tesla Model S had the usual quarterly peak, but at 208 units, it fell behind not only regarding the last peak (234 units in March), but also regarding the previous year half year peak (253 units in June '15).

Nevertheless, it was enough to climb one position in its size class, staying ahead of the Audi A6 (707 units) and surpassing the Mercedes E-Class (719), with the leader BMW 5-Series (864 units) not that distant, this is the Model S at its best, now that the Freemont maker will focus on the Model X, leaving the older model on the sideline.

Looking elsewhere, the BMW i3 had its best result of the year, climbing one position to #5, while below in the ranking we see two new models landing, the Chevrolet Volt had its first registration, too bad this will be a parallel import from the US, if GM invested in this model, we could see it prosper in this market...Besides the Volt, another alternative EV has debuted in Switzerland, with Citren registering its first 5 e-Mehari, a good start for what it should be a niche model here.

One of the most anticipated models of 2016 has arrived unannounced, the Tesla Model X had its first three registrations, will it be on time to reach #2 in the YTD ranking?

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla is comfortably ahead, with 29% share, up 2%, followed by Volkswagen and Audi, both with 12% share and with Renault (11%) on the lookout for a podium seat..

If the S is shaking the Swiss market, then imagine what the X will do...

Tesla Edition

The Swiss EV market registered more than 350 units last month, down 40% YoY, with the EV Share also down to 1.75%.

Looking at the models ranking, the leader Tesla Model S had an off month, selling only 59 units, down 16% YoY, dropping one position to Third Place in its size class, ahead of the Audi A6 (582 units) and behind the Mercedes E-Class (605), and the leader BMW 5-Series (714 units).

Of course, June will see the Model S deliveries jump to a 200-something performance and recover the runner-up place, it is as certain as snow falling next winter in the Valais Swiss Canton...

The Nissan Leaf dropped two positions to #7, registering only 11 units, it seems that the boost from the 30kWh version has faded, is the Japanese hatch condemned to a downward trend for the rest of 2016?

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla is comfortably ahead, with 27% share, down 2%, followed by Volkswagen and Audi, both tied with 13% share.

If the S is shaking the Swiss market, then imagine what the X will do...

Tesla Edition

The Swiss EV market registered some 400 units last month, down 28% YoY, with the EV Share also down to 1.82%.

Looking at the models ranking, the leader Tesla Model S had an off month, selling only 98 units, down 16% YoY, but enough to keep its YTD position (Second Place) in its size class, ahead of the Audi A6 (469 units) and Mercedes E-Class (509), but behind the leader BMW 5-Series (589 units).

In a market with a soft spot for high powered sports cars, the BMW i8 performance this year is a bit disappointing, having registered 32 units, 9 less than in the same period last year and far behind the six-figures-class best sellers, like the Porsche 911 (478 units!), Mercedes-AMG GT (100) or even the Ferrari 488 GTB (61).

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla is comfortably ahead, with 29% share, down 1%, followed by Volkswagen and Audi, both tied with 13% share.

If the S is shaking the Swiss market, then imagine what the X will do...

Tesla Shines Edition

The Swiss EV market registered nearly 600 units last month, up 12% YoY, with the EV Share up to 1.96%, almost on par with last year 1.98%.

Looking at the models ranking, the Tesla Model S showed a strong performance, with a near record 234 deliveries, cementing its lead the EV ranking, with 430 units and 30% share, but also disturbing their ICE competitors, outselling the Audi A6 (328 units this year) and Mercedes E-Class (335), while closing in to the leader BMW 5-Series (453 units).

Actually, March was a positive month for BEV's in general, with other all-electric models presenting good results: The Renault Zoe registered 52 units, its best result of the year, moving up one position to #4, the Nissan Leaf jumped six positions to #6, thanks to 49 deliveries, a personal best, and even the oldie Mitsubishi I-Miev rose four positions to #14, with the 16 sales registered last month being its best result in three years(!)...

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla increased the lead, with 30% share, up 7%, followed by  Volkswagen and Audi, both tied with 13% share.

BMW i8 is going head-to-head with the best

BMW i8 Shines Edition

The Swiss EV market registered nearly 400 units last month, up 41% YoY, a good sign for the rest of the year, with the EV Share at 1.73%.

Looking at the models ranking, there weren't many changes, the Tesla Model S had a slow month, with only 58 deliveries, its worst result in a year, but still enough to keep leading the EV ranking, with 196 units, and continue to disturb their ICE competitors, outselling the Audi A6 (191 units this year) and  running close to the BMW 5-Series (274 sales) and Mercedes E-Class (237).

The Renault Zoe registered only 20 units, its worst result in 17 months, while the BMW i8 had the same amount of sales of the french hatch, these 20 deliveries was the second best month ever for the german sports car, only beaten by the 23 units of July '15, comparing the i8's 25 units sold this year to its closest rivals (Audi R8 - 1 unit in '16; Jaguar F-Type - 6; Mercedes AMG GT - 36), BMW's car from the future looks pretty well positioned, especially considering that the i8 is actually outselling the whole BMW 6-Series lineup (Coup, Cabrio and 4-door Grand Coup), that have 24 units registered YTD, this is another proof that others, other than Tesla, can go head-to-head with the regular ICE-competition.

Now about that pesky Porsche 911 (184 units)...Too much to ask, BMW?

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla continues to lead, with 23% share, followed by #2 Volkswagen (21%) and #3 Audi (13%).
