If the S is shaking the Swiss market, imagine what the X will do... |
Tesla Edition
The Swiss EV market registered over 500 units last month, down 23% YoY, with the EV Share stable at 1.76%.
Looking at the models ranking, the leader Tesla Model S had the usual quarterly peak, but at 208 units, it fell behind not only regarding the last peak (234 units in March), but also regarding the previous year half year peak (253 units in June '15).
Nevertheless, it was enough to climb one position in its size class, staying ahead of the Audi A6 (707 units) and surpassing the Mercedes E-Class (719), with the leader BMW 5-Series (864 units) not that distant, this is the Model S at its best, now that the Freemont maker will focus on the Model X, leaving the older model on the sideline.

Looking elsewhere, the BMW i3 had its best result of the year, climbing one position to #5, while below in the ranking we see two new models landing, the Chevrolet Volt had its first registration, too bad this will be a parallel import from the US, if GM invested in this model, we could see it prosper in this market...Besides the Volt, another alternative EV has debuted in Switzerland, with Citren registering its first 5 e-Mehari, a good start for what it should be a niche model here.
